About Me Passport

Back to School Student Passport

Get to know your students’ interests and passions. Having students share a bit about themselves helps you as the teacher get to know each individual student within your class. This task can be completed during orientation days prior to the school year or when school first returns. Students can include photos and record audio to share their hobbies, interests, favorite subjects, and goals for the year ahead.

Vacation Reflection

Talk about your holiday!

Welcome students back to your classroom with a holiday reflection. Share a collaborative slide deck with your students before they return to school that includes an example by you, the teacher, highlighting your own holiday experiences. This could include photos with short audio recordings about the holidays and also allow students to share what they are most looking forward to in the coming school term. This allows all students to see a snapshot of what each of their classmates did in their holidays and something they are all looking forward to when school starts.

School Guide

In our school – a guide for new students!

Become familiar with the important locations around the school. Perfect for junior classes, students can go on a tour of the school and each student draws a different place i.e., music room, gym, library, playgrounds etc. These drawings can be inserted into the slide deck with the actual photo of the location along with a Mote button for students to record themselves reading a sentence “This is the library” etc. Once this task is completed it can be shared with parents via the class blog or newsletter to allow them an insight into their child’s school environment.

Station Rotations with Mote

Station Rotation is a Blended Learning classroom strategy that allows educators to work with small groups of students, provide student specific feedback, and create connections with students in smaller groups in the process. There are numerous approaches to facilitating station rotations and often technology is integrated into one or more stations, allowing students to work at their own pace which allows the teacher to focus their attention on facilitating a station or to float and facilitate the entire process.

Google Slides is a helpful tool to build digital station rotation experiences as it creates a modular experience where students can enter into one slide deck and progress from station to station within that singular digital space. A significant benefit of integrating technology, Google Slides and Mote into the station rotation experience is that Mote audio allows educators to duplicate themselves in the station experience. While a small group of students are working in a station without the teacher present, they can now have the benefit of hearing pre-recorded teacher audio to guide them through the experience.

Watch the video walk-through below to learn more about facilitating a station rotation experience with Mote in Google Slides.

Mote Audio Timelines

Creating Multimedia Timelines in Slides & Sheets

Timelines and timelines creation are a staple in many history and social studies classrooms. Traditionally completed on massive sheets of paper, they were devoid of any multimedia that would allow students to explain the significance, connections, and impact of events. Not to worry, Mote in both Google Sheets and Slides allows educators and students to create Mote Audio Timelines using two helpful templates created by the Mote team.
